I am proud to be associated with the HAVANESE CLUB OF AMERICA. The American Kennel Club recognizes
the Havanese as the ONLY native breed of Cuba and the HCA as the breed's only official representative in the United
States. I will continue to do my best to educate the public on the issues of reputable breeding practices and responsible
dog ownership, as well as doing everything in my power to breed the healthiest dogs I can through thorough health testing
and only breeding those dogs who have honestly passed all of their health tests. All I can do is the best I can do.

It has come to my attention that some 'breeders' sell their dogs with papers for organizations
such as the "Canine Kennel Club" or the "American Pet Registry". Please be aware that there are two recognized stud books/kennel
clubs in the United States. The American Kennel Club (AKC) and the United Kennel Club (UKC) that are valid, reputable and
recognized organizations. DO NOT BE FOOLED! Other 'off-brand' registries basically take your money and will 'register' just
about anything, including mixed-breed dogs. Once again, the two recognized and reputable registries in the United States are
the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the United Kennel Club (UKC). My puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club and
NO OTHER! Don't accept second-best!
HSUS EXPOSED!
An Atlanta, Georgia television station recently did an investigative report on
where the money donated to HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) actually ends up.
Unfortunately, for undisclosed reasons the Atlanta television station has removed
the video from their website and has not even archived it. PetPac has put a transcript of the report on their site and it
is linked below.
Please click the link below to view this report and find out just where HSUS
spends its money -
Hint: It is NOT going to shelters or rescues!
Food Warning!
It is always the perfect time to remind everyone of some common food items
that can cause serious health problems (and even, in some cases, death!) to our fur and feather friends.
Chocolate, most specifically BAKER'S CHOCOLATE, is toxic to dogs, cats
and domestic cage birds! Be VERY careful when baking with Baker's Chocolate. Store those goodies (cookies, cakes and chocolate
candies!) in airtight containers and keep them in cabinets inaccessible to the family dogs, cats and birds. To view an interactive
chart that will show just how much chocolate (and what TYPE of chocolate) will be harmful or deadly to your dog, click
here http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2007/10/pets/chocolate-chart-interactive.html
Store all goodies out of the reach of your companion animals.
Turkey and ham can be serious problems for our pets. Turkey skin has a high fat content
that can cause acute pancreatitis in our dogs and cats. Pancreatitis CAN be fatal if it is severe enough or not treated in
time! If the family dog MUST have leftovers from the table, serve a small portion of turkey minus the skin and
load up on sweet potatoes and green beans which your pet will enjoy just as much! The turkey carcass is very dangerous as
it can be chewed into pieces that are sharp enough to pierce the intestinal tract and cause death. Ham is high in sodium,
which can cause serious health problems in some dogs and cats. It should not be fed at all and dogs should never be given
ham or cooked pork bones because, like cooked poultry bones, they can splinter and pierce various parts of the dog's digestive
tract. Again, if serving a plate of leftovers, fill up on sweet potatoes, carrots and green beans!

It is important to remember that an ounce of prevention will be worth a huge
vet bill and potential heartache!

DESIGNER DOGS? NO!!!!!!
There is NO SUCH THING as a "designer dog"! The mixed-breed puppies
that are being advertised as "rare designer breeds" are nothing more than common mutts..the same mixed-breeds that can be
found at any local pound or shelter! Some very unethical people are raking in huge sums of money on the backs of their poor
dogs by putting various purebreds together and claiming the resulting puppies are special 'designer' breeds to be highly prized..and
highly priced! BUYER BEWARE!!!!
NO ETHICAL BREEDER WILL EVER DELIBERATELY MIX TWO BREEDS
TOGETHER!
DO NOT BELIEVE MEDIA HYPE!
In many cases, the breeds being mixed do NOT compliment each other
and the resulting puppies will end up having a host of physical, behavioral or temperament problems the buyer will not
be prepared to deal with! The parents of these puppies are NOT being properly health-tested and as a result, the offspring
have a very good chance of inheriting the genetic problems found in BOTH breeds that comprise the mix! The people who are
creating these 'designer' dogs do NOT have the best interests of either breed OR the puppies that will result from the breedings
at heart...they are out to make a buck! They are NOT ethical breeders, no matter how fancy their kennel name! All purebred
breed clubs specifically PROHIBIT the breeding of mixed-breed dogs and so does the AKC! These dogs ARE NOT REGISTERABLE WITH
ANY REPUTABLE STUD REGISTRY!!!! APR (American Pet Registry) IS NOT A REPUTABLE STUD REGISTRY AND NEITHER IS THE
CONTINENTAL KENNEL CLUB!!!!! These 'registries' take your money and that is ALL they do!!!!!
There are ONLY TWO reputable stud registries in the United States - the American
Kennel Club (AKC) and the United Kennel Club (UKC). The ARBA (American Rare Breed Association) WILL NOT REGISTER MIXED-BREED
PUPPIES OR DOGS!
Want a "designer" dog? Visit your local pound or shelter! Every year MILLIONS
of wonderful companion dogs are euthanized in pounds and shelters across the United States and they are literally dying for
want of good homes! Don't add to the pet overpopulation problem by giving your money to someone who produces 'designer'
breed puppies. A great many of those puppies will end up in pounds and shelters...give your money to your local
pound, shelter or humane society and give a loving home to a dog who truly needs one at a small fraction of
the price an unethical 'breeder' of so-called designer dogs will charge FOR THE SAME TYPE OF PUPPY!

GRAPES AND RAISINS
are toxic to dogs! Please keep these treats FAR AWAY from the family dog and if you
have a bird who eats raisins and grapes and also have dogs in the house, be sure to keep the area around the bird cage clean
or stop offering these items to your bird! If your dog does ingest raisins or grapes, contact your vet or Poison Control Center
at once!
XYLITOL WARNING
For dieters who stock up on low-calorie sweeteners and sugar-free candies, XYLITOL,
a common artificial sugar substitute used in many sugar-free candies and other recipes, is TOXIC to dogs and cats. See additional
information below.
Winter is here and it is wise to remember that ice-melt products are very
corrosive and can cause serious irritation to dog and cat foot pads. If your pet walks where ice-melt products are used, be
sure to rinse their feet in warm water when they come inside. If you regularly walk your dog on a surface that has ice-melt
on it, you may want to consider using boots to protect those pads. When de-icing walks and the driveway at your home you should
consider using a product such as Safe-T-Paws which is a non-corrosive ice-melt that will not irritate your pets' feet. Common
sand or kitty litter will also prevent slipping and sliding on icy surfaces and will not harm pets feet.

XYLITOL WARNING!
The ASPCA has issued a warning about the artificial sweetner XYLITOL which is found in many sugar-free candies and sugar-free gum. XYLITOL is TOXIC
to dogs, causing sudden onset hypoglycemia and in some cases death. If you suspect your dog or puppy has ingested a product
containing XYLITOL, please contact your veterinarian, emergency veterinarian hospital or the ASPCA POISON CONTROL CENTER at
1-888-426-4435 ($50 consultation fee may be applied to your credit card) IMMEDIATELY. ASPCA Poison Control Center website:

WARNING!
It has come to our attention that some unethical individuals are advertising, over the Internet
and through various other means, TEACUP or TINY Havanese for sale at exhorbitant prices. These poor dogs are being described
as "rare" and the consumer is lead to believe they are going to grow up to be healthy companions.
CONSUMERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!
There is no such thing as a "rare teacup Havanese" or "rare Tiny Havanese"! Many of these puppies
are so small because they suffer from a potentially terminal condition known as Liver Shunt...one of the main symptoms of
Liver Shunt in puppies is a FAILURE TO GROW. Liver Shunt CAN KILL. Additionally, dwarfing the Havanese breed can and will
lead to a host of other problems, including but not limited to: severe bone malformation, hearing problems, cataracts, heart
abnormalities. Breeding "dwarf" Havanese bitches can result in the death of the bitch and possibly the entire litter!
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY CLEVER ADVERTISING!
The Havanese Club of America Standard for the Breed calls for a dog that is 8 1/2 to 11 1/2 inches
tall at the withers. While there will always be dogs that fall under and over the standard, these are not proper and should
NOT be bred! If you want a tiny/teacup size dog, please choose a breed that is MEANT to be that small, such as a
Chihuahua!
For information on reputable breeders of Havanese, PLEASE contact the Havanese Club of America
Thank you!
